2008 Wrap-up

Mon Dec 29, 2008, 1:20 PM
I'll start off saying that, even though this entry may seem a little negative and unhappy and such, the majority of 2008 has been relatively positive. But most of this will be about 2008 since August since I honestly can't remember back that far, probably because it wasn't anything interesting. All of that will be followed by recent news. I know, exciting! Right, so let's get to it.

Photography:
Not a whole lot of it got done this year, honestly. A few things here and there, mostly just because I got bored doing whatever. I have only really been shooting things to go along with my music. Which brings up to our next bullet.

Music:
Biofixation saw a lot of activity, since I got a new drum machine and all. Put up a lot of new stuff, experimented with some things, etc etc. That will all continue into 2009, if anyone is paying attention to begin with. More on this when we get to recent news.

School:
I honestly do not remember anything about the first semester of 2008, except that I was at UHD and it was boring. I transfered over to UH main campus, and this got, surprisingly, no less boring. So what I have learned from this year is, no matter what school you go to, it is boring. Moving on.

Work:
Still working for Disney. Only thing of note: got a promotion, lost it, got it back, lost it again. Good stuff. I can't wait for these seasonal fucks to be told their term is over so I don't have to deal with them anymore.

Love-life:
Haha.

Gaming:
Well, I wasn't really sure whether or not to go ahead and devote a section to this, but since it has (re)become an addiction, I guess I will. Spend the early portion of 2008 playing the entire dotHack series (that's right, all of them: Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, Quarantine, GU Rebirth, GU Reminisce, and GU Redemption). Beat 'em all, then moved on to my first Final Fantasy game ever: FFXII. Had to stop playing when the hurricane hit, and never really could get back into the swing of things, so that one remains unbeaten. Again, more on this in recent news.

Hurricane:
No real damage, just a lot of frustration and loss of power for 2 weeks. Pretty much stopped me from being able to focus on a lot of things: school, work, gaming, music, etc. It sucked pretty bad. But everything turned out alright so there ya go.

Recent News!

So I am just going to spout this all off in whatever order things come to mind. Most recently, this past weekend, I went to New Orleans to visit with some family. Saw my grandparents, who have been working on rebuilding their house since Katrina hit, and it is coming along very nicely. They are doing very well, minus my grandfather having surgery on his foot. But everything seems dandy otherwise. Also visited with my step dad's family. They are doing equally well.

Christmas day was alright (well, most of it). Woke up to a lot of talking and unwrapping, which is to be expected. Didn't really spend too much time with the family. Don't ask me why, I don't know. My friend Richard, whom I had not seen since August, came over so we could hang out; went for a drive, talked about stupid shit, that sort of thing. Then I went to Lauren's. We hung out for a while. And that was Christmas.

As far as music goes, I really haven't been doing a whole lot lately, and that has mostly to do with stress over school and work, and not having the time to really sit down and work on anything. However, I have been listening to a lot of stuff, getting ideas and whatnot, so I hope to sit my ass down and crank something out sometime soon.

I finally got an Xbox 360, which is bad ass. And I bought a new TV to go with it, which ran me about $1100. I have been addicted to Midnight Club Los Angeles, and play it almost every day, so if any one wants to do all that nonsense, or you just want to add me, my gamertag is Pattacular. But let me know who you are if you do, send me a message or something. Because I don't know if this happens to everyone, but I am getting sick of getting like 5 friend requests per day from people I have never played with or talked to. Blah blah blah, I have also been playing Mirror's Edge and Bioshock. Good stuff.

Onto the juicy bits about my love life: still nonexistent. I made a recent decision that it seems it would be best just to remain single for another 4 years unless someone forces me into a relationship, which looks like the only way I will be able to stay in one. So, ladies, if you wanna call Patrick and say "You better fucking go out with me or I swear to God [insert something scary here]!" Feel free.

Also, I turned 21, which was revealed in my last journal. Update from that: still 21, and still haven't been able to get in touch with my dad so he can send me some high quality booze. I've never been a big fan of drinking, but recently it has been looking like a hobby I should take up. And I've been wondering what it would be like to play Mirror's Edge drunk, whoa boy.

Anywho, that is about all I can think of, so yeah. I may start working on stuff more frequently in 2009, but who knows. We'll see how it goes. And I wish all of you a belated Merry Christmas, and Happy New Years!

By applying a little ingenuity and creativity, you can take shots that will make viewers ask, "So what kind of camera do you have?"
Thanks for the :+fav:
